Fun Providence Events to Cross off Your Summer Bucket List

It is officially August, and while you’re enjoying your last few weeks of summer weather, you may be looking for a few more fun activities to cross off the bucket list with your family and friends. Providence is full of exciting exhibits and events for children and adults – here are a few to check out before school gets back in session.

The RISD Museum. If you haven’t been to the RISD museum, or you don’t know much about it, it contains more than 100,000 different objects, including everything from ancient artwork to more contemporary pieces. The RISD museum features art from artists all around the world, and showcases paintings, sculptures, photographers, decorative pieces and so much more. The museum is open from Tuesdays-Sundays between 10 AM-5 PM. During the week, adult tickets cost $15, but youth and children are always free. On Sundays – admission is always free!

WaterFire. While WaterFire is available through the colder months, you may want to catch it during a nice, summer night! WaterFire is a non-profit organization that provides stunning light shows in downtown Providence. The light shows symbolize urban festivals and civic rituals and consist of firelights, wood smoke and music from all around the world! These stunning shows are a must-see and make for a great night out on the town.

Roger Williams Park Zoo. This zoo is one of the oldest zoos in the entire country! With 40-acres of land, this zoo holds over 100 different species from all over the world. Not to mention, the zoo has a lot of fun events going on throughout the rest of this month! Some exciting activities include meeting armadillos, celebrating World Elephant Day, and food truck Fridays, which last all the way until the end of September. Check out their website for more information on their events and activities, as well as hours of operation.
